“Honor to whom honor is due.” Romans 13:7

It is true, timing is everything. On February 20, 2015 Mayor Jan Moore and other community leaders together with the Board of Directors celebrated the ceremonial ground-breaking for Stateboro’s first homeless shelter, i.e., OPEN HEARTS COMMUNITY MISSION. Delia Mobley, Chairman of the Board had invested many years quietly serving the homeless of Bulloch County. The ground-breaking event gave promise of a dream coming true. The Mayor declared February 20 “Open Hearts Community Mission Day.” It is fitting that on the Third Anniversary of the ground-breaking, our friends from Action Signs installed a memorializing recognition of Delia Mobley’s efforts to bring new hope and new help to our friends and neighbors in Bulloch County who are homeless or near homeless. The beautiful facility was dedicated in 2017. Although the efforts to establish Open Hearts Community Mission was spearheaded by Delia, her husband, Dr. Chip Mobley and a host of genuinely committed citizens united together to make a huge, lasting impact on the lives of people we know who need a hand up, not a hand out.
